There was a problem with the reservation credit card payment and you
may want to speak to VISA about this. Other than that, everything
was very good. We will be back in August between the .. and ... Is
this too early a time to reserve something?

If you can confirm you flight schudule, you can reserve
the rental car from now. Or booking just few weeks befroe your arrival
is ok for low season.
About the Visa, the strict policy make your credit card detail safe.
In most case, we dont have any problem with the Verified by Visa process.
